FRAMINGHAM, MASSACHUSETTS
Framingham Firefighters responded to a report of a roof
collapse at Lowe’s Home Improvement store on Route 30 in Framingham, Sunday
night.
The Lowe’s garden center roof completely collapsed.
Although the store was open, no one was injured.
Framingham Patch readers said the area was roped off and
closed to customers, earlier in the day.
The incident at Lowe’s was the second collapse, the
Framingham Fire department responded to on Sunday. There was a porch collapse
earlier in the day on Irving Street.
The incident at the Framingham Lowe’s was the third incident
at a Lowe’s in New England in a week.
On Feb. 16, the roof of the garden center at the Seekonk
Lowe’s collapsed.
Also over the weekend, the roof of the garden center at The
Warwick, RI Lowe’s collapsed.

SNOW, ICE CAUSE
WARWICK LOWE’S ROOF TO COLLAPSE
FEBRUARY 22, 2015
WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI)
The mounting weight of snow and ice took its toll on the
Lowe’s home improvement store in Warwick early Sunday.
The roof of the Quaker Lane store’s garden center partially
gave way overnight, collapsing into the center itself. Officials said the
store was closed at the time, and no one was hurt.
Sunday’s collapse was the second at a Lowe’s garden center
in recent days. The same thing happened at the Seekonk store on Feb. 16.

GARDEN CENTER ROOF COLLAPSES AT SEEKONK LOWE’S
FEBRUARY 16, 2015
SEEKONK, MASS. (WPRI
The roof of the garden center at
Lowe’s in Seekonk collapsed Monday afternoon, but fortunately no one was
injured as a result.
The roof collapsed under the weight of the snow at about
3:15 at the store located at 1000 Fall River Avenue.
That part of the store was closed at the time of the
collapse and no employees or customers were inside.
A spokesperson for Lowe’s says the collapse only affected
the garden center, but the entire store remains closed while the building is
inspected.
Seekonk Fire Chief Michael Healy said the incident caused
minor water damage inside the store.
“A lot of damage to the actual structure and the products
underneath it, there is also water damage inside the store. That will be an
assessment for the store to take care of,” he said. “If it had been open and
there were shoppers, wed’ be in a much more serious condition than it is right
now.”
It was one of many similar incidents to happen in Southern
New England this week.
It’s not known when the store will reopen.
