INVOLVING A SEMI TRUCK BADLY INJURES MAN.
A SNOWMOBILER DIED EARLY SATURDAY AFTER AN ACCIDENT NORTH OF BATTLE
CREEK, MICHIGAN
SNOWMOBILE ACCIDENT: A snowmobiler died early Saturday
after an accident north of Battle Creek. About 11 p.m. Friday, Battle Creek
police were dispatched to private property in Bedford Township near White
Rabbit Road and North Avenue to investigate the crash. Officers said the man
was riding at a high speed when he struck some debris which was covered with
snow. He was thrown from the snowmobile.
The driver was taken to Bronson
Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment and police said he later died as
a result of those injuries. His name was not released by police, who said the
accident remains under investigation.
SATURDAY CRASH: A section of I-94 near Helmer Road was
closed for about 21/2 hours after a semi truck struck a car in Battle Creek at
11:20 a.m. Saturday. Battle Creek police said a semi was westbound between
Columbia Avenue and Helmer Road when it went out of control of slippery
pavement.
The truck crossed the median and struck an eastbound car. The car’s
driver, 22, of Battle Creek, was seriously injured and flown by AirCare medical
helicopter to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo with injuries not
believed to be life-threatening, police said. The truck driver was uninjured,
police said. All lanes of the road were opened before 2 p.m.
