UPDATE 2 p.m.
A semi-truck was struck by a train at the Remington Ave. railroad crossing about one hour ago. Witnesses on scene said the semi appeared to get stuck on the tracks, but the driver was able to hop out of the cab before the train crashed into it.
The train then pushed the semi-truck down the tracks for roughly a mile, where the truck and locomotive then came to a rest. Emergency crews were on scene across from the the KOA Campgrounds tending to the crash.
Erie County Emergency Management was also on scene, as a decent amount of fuel had spilled as a result of the collision.
The train ultimately derailed, and a large portion of the semi cab was crushed.
The semi's engine appears to have become dislodged in the initial crash, as it was resting alongside the tracks near the Maple Square Apartments on Remington Avenue.
Remington Avenue is currently blocked off at Laurel Lane and Rhode Street.
More info should be forthcoming.
