ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) -

Suffolk County police are investigating a two-car collision in which a 22-year-old Long Island woman was killed.

Police say Andrea Acosta of Bay Shore was driving in the HOV lane of the eastbound Long Island Expressway near Islandia when she crossed over the lane buffer and drove across another three lanes. Her SUV struck a car in the far right lane. It happened just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Acosta was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passengers, 18-year-old Casandra Carreon and 19-year-old Francisco Ayaraca, both of Brentwood, were taken to the hospital. Carreon was treated for serious injuries and Ayaraca suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, 50-year-old Gregorio Pisciotti of Patchogue, was not injured.
