WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE? POLICE SEEKING DRIVER WHO CAUSED 200-GALLON GAS SPILL AT YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP SPEEDWAY IN MICHIGAN

Police are looking for the driver who broke off a tanker's hose after running over it at a gas station in Ypsilanti Township Wednesday.

The incident caused a 200-gallon gas spill, according to Vic Chevrette, Washtenaw County's HAZMAT director.

A gas tanker was delivering fuel to the Speedway located 2190 Rawsonville Road around 12:30 p.m. when a vehicle attempted to drive around it.

"They drove over everything, the hoses and the nozzles, and severed everything off," Chevrette said.

The driver of the vehicle then kept going, officials said. The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is looking for the driver, but did not immediately have an information about the vehicle.

The disconnection caused 200 gallons of fuel to spill in the area.

The gas station was closed and an absorbent was put down to try soaking up some of the fuel, Chevrette said.

A private company was being called out to finish the clean-up.

Chevrette said the fuel did not contaminate any of the drains.
