TOWN OF MEDINA, Wis. -
A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday night,
officials said.
The Dane County Sheriff's Department said deputies
responded to a report of a crash at about 9 p.m. on West Medina Road, east of
Ridge Road. A passerby who had not witnessed the crash called in the report.
According to the sheriff's department, a 2007 Toyota
Tundra pickup truck was headed east on West Medina Road when it lost control,
crossed into the oncoming lane and veered off the roadway, striking a large
tree stump.
The 44-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the
report. The airbags were deployed.
Alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor, the sheriff's
department said Saturday.
Officials withheld the name of the man killed pending
notification of his family.
