WILMINGTON,
Ill. (AP) — Officials in Wilmington, Ill., say a construction worker has died Friday
after being pinned between a beam and a lift.
Patrick
C. Wilda, 33, of Plainfield was discovered about noon in the lift he’d been
working in at a site in the 24500 block of Lorenzo Road in Wilmington,
according to Police Chief Phillip Arnold.
Arnold
said the lift had been extended to the roof beam. Other workers performed CPR until Wilmington
firefighters arrived. Wilda was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center
in Joliet, where he was pronounced dead at 12:43 p.m.
An
autopsy was performed Saturday at the Will County Coroner’s Office. Cause of death will be determined pending
police investigation and further investigation of the worksite mishap,
according to the coroner’s office.
Wilda
was employed by Area Erectors Inc. Arnold said the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration is investigating the incident. The Wilmington Police
Department and the Illinois State Police are also investigating the incident,
the coroner’s office said.
