WOMAN DIES IN
FIRST FATAL CRASH OF THE YEAR IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH A SEMI TRUCK IN DARKE
COUNTY, TN
DARKE COUNTY - A Tennessee woman died at the scene of an
accident Tuesday morning after her car went head-on into a semi truck.
At approximately 10:21 a.m., Darke County deputies,
North Star Fire, Ansonia Rescue, Darke County Coroner’s Office, Darke County
Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team and Ohio State Highway Patrol
Commercial Motor Carrier Inspector responded to the 14,300 block of U.S. Route
127 on the report of the fatal head-on crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed a Silver 2004
Pontiac Vibe driven by Kimberly Sue Acuff, 47, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was
traveling northbound on U.S. Route 127 and traveled left of center colliding
head-on into a southbound Tan 2000 Frieghtliner semi truck and trailer, driven
by Daniel L. Clark, 56, of West Chicago, Illinois.
Acuff was pronounced deceased at the scene and had to be
mechanically extricated from her vehicle. The driver of the semi was uninjured.
U.S. Route 127 was closed for approximately 3 1/2 hours
while crews investigated the scene.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke
County Sheriff’s Office and the Darke County Coroner’s Office. This is Darke
County’s first fatal crash of 2015.
