TRACTOR TRAILER
CRASH BACKS UP I-95 IN AUGUSTA, MAINE. HE SAID THAT WHEN HE TRIED TO TAKE A BREAK, THE BACK WHEELS SLID, CAUSING THE
TRUCK TO OVERTURN
AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A tractor trailer
accident on I-95 that happened Tuesday midday will reduce northbound traffic to
one lane through Wednesday morning.
The driver said he was pulling over to take his
mandatory 30 minute rest period when the back wheels slid, causing the truck to
overturn at mile 111 near the Bond Brook Bridge.
Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said motorists
should avoid the area and instead take the Western Avenue exit and use Leighton
Road.

ONE NORTHBOUND
LANE ON I-95 IN AUGUSTA, MAINE TO REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL WEDNESDAY
The Trioiano Waste Services tractor-trailer full of
trash veers off the road and tips over near Bond Brook Bridge.
A tractor-trailer accident shut down one northbound lane
of Interstate 95 in Augusta on Tuesday and the wreck wasn’t expected to be
removed until Wednesday morning. Motorists should continue to expect delays
until then, police said.
The accident happened about 12:30 p.m. between exits 109
and 112 in Augusta near Bond Brook Bridge, which was the site of another
tractor-trailer accident last week, according to a news release from Stephen
McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Although workers had hoped to open the lane by the
Tuesday evening commute, McCausland said one lane would remain closed until
Wednesday morning.
“It’s got a long way to go,” McCausland said.
The truck that crashed was a Trioiano Waste Services
truck, according to McCausland.
Motorists are advised to take the Western Avenue exit in
Augusta and use Leighton Road to avoid the highway.
