CONFIRMED DEAD IN CHATHAM, MASS. $2.3 MILLION HOUSE FIRE. THE HOUSE IS A TOTAL LOSS.

CHATHAM, Mass. — Authorities say one person has died in
an overnight fire in a multimillion dollar home in Chatham.
The state fire marshal’s office confirms one fatality in
the blaze on Stage Island Road.
No information on the victim was immediately available,
but the person is believed to be a resident of the house. The state medical
examiner’s office will confirm the victim’s identity.
The blaze was reported at about 10:15 p.m. Monday. It
appears as if the house is a total loss.
There was no immediate word on a cause.
The Chatham Fire Department received assistance from
several other Cape Cod departments, including Harwich, Orleans and Brewster.
The waterfront house was valued at more than $2.3
million.
