CHARGED WITH RECKLESS DRIVING.
January 17, 2015
ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – A tractor-trailer driver
has been charged with reckless driving after his vehicle overturned early
Saturday morning on the Eastern Shore spilling about 50,000 pounds of milk and
fuel across Route 13.
John Eason, 54, of Preston, Maryland, was traveling
southbound near Tasley Road in Accomack County when he ran off Route 13 and
flipped in the median around 4:45 a.m. Police closed all lanes of the road
while the Tasley Volunteer Fire Department cleaned up the spill. But just over
two hours later, a Dodge pickup truck driving northbound ran into the back of a
fire department vehicle.
The driver of the dodge, Christopher Beauchamp, suffered
major injuries and was flown to the hospital. Beauchamp, 59, of Onancock, will
not be charged, state police said.
Eason, who suffered minor injuries, was wearing his seat
belt and alcohol was not a factor. No fire personnel were hurt.
The crash cleared around noon and all lanes are open.
