The Greenville County coroner said a construction worker died Thursday after falling at a construction site in downtown Greenville.
Molina Media Ascencion, 44, of Greenville, fell from the fourth floor of a building under construction at 699 North Main Street, according to Coroner Parks Evans.
Evans said Ascencion fell approximately 30 feet around 11 a.m. and was rushed to the hospital, where he died just before 4:30 p.m.
The building is part of the Main + Stone development.
According to the developer, The Beach Company, Main + Stone is a 292-unit mixed-use development that will feature apartment homes, retail and commercial space.
The South Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office and Greenville police are investigating.
A spokesperson for SC OSHA said the agency's investigators are looking to see if any OSHA violations may have contributed to the death. The investigation may take up to 8 weeks.
