General cargo vessel WITTENBERGEN in the morning July 30 ran aground on coast of eastern tip of Kithira island, Greece, Sea of Crete.
Vessel suffered crack in forepeak area with ensuing water ingress, which is under control.
Vessel is en route from Gebze Turkey to Belfast Ireland, with cargo of steel soils.
None of the vessel’s eight crew members sustained injuries. The vessel is operated by Arkon shipping.
