A
31-year-old man and an 8-year-old boy were killed when a
tractor-trailer went off the highway on Interstate 95 North in
Stonington on Monday night and burst into flames, according to state

A
31-year-old father and his 7-year-old son were killed when a
tractor-trailer went off the highway on Interstate 95 North in
Stonington on Monday night and burst into flames, according to state
police.
Sergio
Amilear Castellon, 31, of Council Bluffs, Iowa was driving the truck
near exit 91 on I-95 just after 8 p.m. when he hit the guard rail,
according to a news release from state police.
His
7-year-old-son, Sergio Giovanny Castellon, was in the sleeper section
of the truck and was also killed in the crash, according to a news
release from state police.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The
northbound side of the highway was completely shut down at exit 91 for
hours in the Mystic section of Stonington into Tuesday morning, but it
reopened by 11:02 a.m.
Witnesses
at the scene said they saw smoke and heard explosions and footage from
the scene showed a plume of black smoke billowing up from the crash
site.
Police are actively investigating and witnesses are asked to call state police at 860-848-5033.
