Equipment failure sparks fire at Range Resources gas well site
WASHINGTON COUNTY, PA:
An equipment failure is being blamed for a fire on a gas well pad in Washington County Wednesday evening.
According to Range Resources Corp., a piece of equipment failed and as a result some engine oil was discharged and caught fire along with plastic ground liners. The well pad is near Ross Road in North Strabane Township.
"This was not a well control incident," the company said in a statement. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters from Washington County, along with the county hazardous materials team, responded. The fire was extinguished at around 6:15 p.m.
"As with any incident of this nature, we will work with regulators and first responders to investigate what occurred and take action to best prevent future incidents from happening," the company said.
