BRAINTREE, Mass. (WHDH) - A driver was trapped on commuter rail tracks in Braintree Wednesday morning and escaped just before a train plowed into his tractor trailer.
"Couldn't back up, then it starts dinging dinging dinging, next then I know I look over and here comes the  train, and I jump and bam put that thing sideways down the  track,” Herman said.

The driver was stuck in snow and ice after making a delivery at an office park Wednesday morning. He attempted to make a big right-hand turn and became caught up in a snow bank, with the cab right in front of some train tracks.

The northbound commuter train had about 60 people on board, according to the MBTA. A witness estimated the train was traveling about 40-50 miles per hour.

"I was standing right behind the truck and the train started coming around the corner. We were yelling to the driver to jump out. He must have waited until it was 50 yards away. He finally bailed out of the truck. The red cab was still on the train tracks, and you know, a few seconds later, it was like surreal - right out of the movies. The train hit the cab, pushed it into the woods, and the driver jumped out right before the train hit the truck," said Bill Bradford.

Bradford dialed 911 and the fire department responded. Though no one was hurt outside the train, some passengers complained of back pain following the impact.

"There were reports of four to five injuries. The train did stop further down the track,"said Capt. Edward Bulger of the Braintree Fire Department.

"My wife is gone but I'm just one. And everything I work for. And the people I work for that trusted me with that, it's gone. Pretty much everything I own is in that truck," said the driver.
