San Bruno, California (KRON4) — A 16-year-old girl who was driving erratically crashed into a pizza parlor in San Bruno this morning, damaging a gas meter and causing the building to catch fire, according to police.

The fire was reported sometime before 10:30 a.m. in the 900 block of El Camino Real, prompting a response by fire and PG&E crews.

Authorities say the girl was driving erratically which lead to a chase that ultimately resulted in fiery crash.

Eddie Grauf, owner of European Car Service, which is located near the fire, identified the affected business as Seniore’s Pizza.

“The whole place burned down,” Grauf said. “There were flames 10, 15 feet high.”

“We sent a crew out right away and they’ve been working with first responders to make the area safe and stop the flow of gas,” PG&E spokeswoman Brittany McKannay said.

San Mateo County fire dispatchers said that the fire was brought under control at around 12:15 p.m. and southbound El Camino Real reopened shortly after 12:45 p.m. The northbound lanes remained closed.
