EMPTY HOUSE FIRE
IN HAMPTON, VIRGINIA. THE HOME IS A
TOTAL LOSS.

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters were dispatched to a
house fire at 12:22 a.m. Monday in the 1700 block of Newtown Rd. in Hampton.
A number of neighbors called 911 after seeing flames
showing at the home.
When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting through
the roof and they had to fight the fire using ladder trucks to get above the
fire.
According to Battalion Chief Birdsong, the roof
collapsed and the floor inside the home collapsed. The home is a total
loss.
Neighbors tell WAVY.com the man who lived in the home
passed away just after Christmas.
At this time, investigators are working to determine the
cause of the fire.
