MASON CITY | Two vehicles were damaged after one of them caught on fire around 4:10 p.m. Saturday in the Mason City Target parking lot.

A fuel leak in the engine compartment of a 1998 Oldsmobile likely started the fire, according to the Mason City Fire Department.

It's owner, Tom Mulford, residence unknown, told the department he left it running while he went into the store because it hadn't been running well lately.

The fire spread to a 2006 Nissan Altima that was parked in front of it.

The front portion of both vehicles was heavily damaged, according to the fire department.

The fire department did not know who owned the Nissan.
