Andrew Robert Dean Olsen, 22, of Lafayette, was arrested on Saturday and 24-year-old Jeremy G. Hopper II of Amity was arrested on Sunday. They were both lodged in the Yamhill County Jail on manslaughter, assault and reckless driving charges.
Each of their bail is more than $300,000.
On May 4 around 8:50 p.m., troopers responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 99 West near milepost 34, north of McMinnville.
Investigators say a 2010 Mitsubishi driven by Hopper was traveling northbound on the highway when it lost control, spun across the paved center median and struck a southbound 2004 Honda Odyssey van nearly head-on.
Hopper was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and his passenger, 18-year-old Natasha Fisher of McMinnville, was air-lifted to a Portland hospital with critical injuries.
The Honda's driver, 43-year-old Claudio Martinez Marquez of McMinnville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Marquez's passenger, 33-year-old Bonifacio Martinez Garcia of McMinnville, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Andrew Olsen, who was driving a Silver 2013 Mistubishi Lancer, remained at the scene after the crash.
Police say speed racing was a factor in the crash.
