AUSTELL, GA. - An SUV carrying two adults and four children crashed Monday morning killing the adults.

The accident happened just after 4 a.m. when the family's vehicle crashed into a tree on Clay Road at Flint Hill Road.

According to investigators on the scene, the green Honda Passport, driven by 27-year-old Katrina E. Morris, crossed the double lines, before hitting the tree.

"I just heard tires squealing and I got out to see what was going on. I walked around this area. I saw them fishtailing," Arthur House said. He witnesses the crash. "They went off, went down and hit the tree. The jeep darn went sideways. The tree's the only thing that kept it from rolling over."

House's brother pulled two children in car seats from the mangled mess. Neighbors say the two other children were trapped until police arrived with the jaws of life.

Both adults were killed, while all of the children were transported a local hospital. The front seat passenger, an adult male, was also pronounced dead at the scene. He has now been identified as 28-year-old Rodney Smith of Powder Springs. The driver was identified as 27-year-old Katrina Morris.

Officials say two of the children are in serious condition.

The SUV crashed into a flower bed in the front of a home. The homeowner said they tried to get the children out of the car and keep them calm while police arrived.

Speaking through tears, the homeowner said, "the children were crying and hollering for mommy and their daddy. It's just awful."
