California Statewide Fire Summary, Monday, August 3, 2015

California Statewide Fire Summary
Monday, August 3, 2015

There are 21 active fires across California, well over 9,000 firefighters battling them. Thousands of lightning strikes have occurred since last week, sparking several hundred small wildfires. Many of the lightning-sparked fires are being managed as single fire “complexes” as list below.

A slight chance of thunderstorms will continue in far northern and eastern areas today, but the majority of the region will see more sunshine and slightly higher southwest to west winds, which could fan any lightning strikes from over the weekend. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect today in the upper part of California, due to lightning and wind. These storms will be on the dry side so a high risk has been issued for dry lightning for these areas on Tuesday.

As many of you go outdoors to enjoy the summer weather, CAL FIRE cautions all Californians and visitors to be extra careful outdoors as it doesn’t take much to spark a wildfire. One Less Spark, means One Less Wildfire. Learn more at www.ReadyForWildfire.org.
