Morehouse Parish (LSP Release) -
On July 31, 2015 at 9:45 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on US Highway 425 at Shelton Cutoff Road that claimed the life of a Bastrop woman.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 Toyota Highlander driven by 42-year-old James Griffith of Bastrop was traveling north on US HWY 425 attempting to make a left turn onto Shelton Cutoff Road, when a south bound 2014 Polaris ATV driven by 43-year-old James Green of Bastrop collided with the vehicle, causing both occupants of the ATV to be ejected.
James Green and his passenger 43-year-old Lori Green also of Bastrop were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Lori Green sustained fatal injuries from the crash and James Green was transported to Rapids General Medical Center for serious injuries.
Impairment is suspected in this crash. A toxicology sample was obtained from Green and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Each year, on Louisiana’s highways, numerous people are killed or seriously injured in automobile crashes that involve impaired drivers. In 2014, 47% of the fatal crashes in Troop G involved impaired drivers. Motorists are asked to designate a sober driver before traveling to any place where alcohol will be consumed. Drive sober or get pulled over.
