SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
A woman was injured when she crashed a pickup truck into a tree outside a South Side home Saturday morning.
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. Saturday on the 900 block of West Hutchins Place, between Commercial Avenue and Pleasanton Road.
Although witnesses first said the 18-year-old and the driver of a car appeared to have been racing prior to the crash, police said the woman was actually driving slowly.
A San Antonio Police Department spokesperson said she was apparently texting and driving and the driver of the car behind her became impatient and tried to pass her. The woman driving the truck then sped up but lost control. The truck hit a telephone pole, spun out, and then hit a tree.
The woman was taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Other driver allowed to leave after talking with police.
Do not text or use a phone when you drive. A vehicle is considered a lethal weapon and you should pay the ultimate care and attention while you operate it. Otherwise trouble will hit you faster than a bullet. Learn from the above accident.
