TRUCK DRIVER CARRYING 6,500 GALLONS OF ENGINE OIL KILLED IN 18-WHEELER ACCIDENT IN WARREN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI. ENGINE OIL SPILL TO TAKE DAYS TO CLEANUP

WARREN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI

The driver of an 18-wheeler is dead after an accident in Warren County.
It happened around 11:30 Sunday night on I-20 westbound past the Bovina/Tiffintown Road Exit.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the driver ran off the roadway and hit several trees. The driver died on the scene.

The identity of the driver has not been released at this time.

Officials with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality said the truck was carrying 6,500 gallons of engine oil. Some of the oil spilled.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation estimated that cleanup will be finished by Thursday. Until then, the left lane on I-20 westbound near mile marker 8 is closed.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
