WISTER, OKLA. (KFSM)
Two people are dead in a rollover accident involving a
semi-truck and two other vehicles, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The accident happened Monday morning (May 18) on Oklahoma
271. Traffic had to be diverted to Picturerock Rd. for about two hours, while
that portion of the highway was shut down for Oklahoma Highway Patrol to
investigate the accident.
A red pickup-truck, white Chevy Impala and semi-truck were
involved in the accident, according to Lt. Eddie Bohanan. The cause of the
accident is still under investigation, but Bohanan said the pickup and car were
traveling west, the semi was traveling east. One of the vehicles was preparing
to make a left hand turn when the accident took place.
Two people in the pickup-truck died at the scene, and the
driver and an infant in the Impala were taken to a local hospital to be checked
out, according to investigators. LeFlore County Undersheriff Kendall Morgan
said the driver of the 18-wheeler was also transported by EMS as a precaution.
The names of the two killed in the accident have not been
released, pending family notification.
