LAUGHLIN, NV (FOX5)
One person was killed and three others were injured when a
small airplane crashed in Laughlin on Sunday evening, according to Clark County
firefighters.
The plane crashed just before 6 p.m. near the Big Bend State
Recreation Area along Needles Highway.
Firefighters said that when they arrived at the scene they
found the aircraft ablaze and four people on board. One person was dead, two
others were badly burned and the remaining person was still trapped inside the
plane. Crews were later able to free that person.
The three surviving victims were taken to area hospitals for
treatment.
Firefighters said that the blaze from the crash site quickly
spread to surrounding brush, and crews were working to contain the fire before
it spread to nearby buildings. Officials said that fire was about 75 percent
contained by 9 p.m.
The cause of the crash was under investigation by the
Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
The identity of those involved in the crash was not
immediately released.
It was not immediately clear where the plane was headed at
the time it crashed.

Metro Police say they are responding to a plane crash near
Laughlin that has killed one person and injured three others.
Metro has confirmed the crash happened near Needles Highway
and the Big Bend Field, just southwest of Laughlin around 6 p.m Sunday.
Metro, along with Clark County Fire Department and Bullhead
City authorities, reported the plane was on fire when they arrived.
Authorities said two people suffered burns to their bodies
and were flown to a nearby hospital. One person was dead at the scene and
another person is still trapped inside the plane.
Metro said crews are working to free the trapped passenger.
Police said they are assisting with the rescue efforts.
The site of the crash is near the Colorado River.
Authorities have not released any other information at this
time.

The aircraft impacted desert terrain SW of Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport (KIFP), Bullhead City, Arizona, and a post-crash fire ensued. The airplane sustained unreported damage and one of the four occupants onboard received fatal injuries. Two occupants received serious injuries and one individual remains unknown.
