NTSB: NO MECHANICAL ANOMALIES WITH ENGINE AFFECTED THE CESSNA 182P PLANE THAT CRASHED IN LINCOLN CO. KILLING THE PILOT. PILOT DID NOT FILE FLIGHT PLAN

MAY 13, 2015

LINCOLN COUNTY, TN (WAFF)

The National Transportation Safety Board issued its preliminary report on the May 3 airplane crash that killed a Lincoln County woman.
The NTSB did not find any mechanical anomalies with the engine that would have affected normal operation of the Cessna 182P at the time of the crash that killed Linda Bauman.

Investigators say the plane collided with a stand of 70-foot-tall hackberry trees before impacting the ground and coming to rest in a shallow cattle pond in Mulberry. The wreckage wasn't discovered until the next day.

The report shows both wings sustained extensive impact damage and separated from the airframe in two sections.

Bauman had a total of 200 flight hours at the time of the crash.

The woman killed in a plane crash in Lincoln County did not file a flight plan before taking off on the flight that ended her life.
The investigation into what went wrong that day is continuing.
