NEW YORK, NY
Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Shinnecock in Shinnecock, New York, safely towed a disabled 54-foot pleasure craft, today.
At approximately 5 a.m., Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound Command Center received notification from the vessel’s owners requesting assistance. The mariners were transiting from New Jersey to Boston, Massachusetts, and had suffered a steering casualty about ten miles south of Shinnecock Inlet.
Due to low visibility and poor weather conditions, Station Shinnecock launched and arrived on scene to tow the pleasure craft to Oakland’s Marina.
No injuries or medical concerns were reported.
