THE WESTERN HALF OF THE GIRL SCOUTS DETROIT SERVICE CENTER IN THE FISHER BUILDING WAS FLOODED DUE TO A VERY LARGE BROKEN WATER HEATING PIPE

FEBRUARY 17, 2015

DETROIT, MICHIGAN

On Monday, February 16th, at about 4:30 PM, the western half of the Detroit Service Center in the Fisher Building was flooded due to a very large broken water heating pipe. The floor above us was flooded with about six inches of water, and that came down through the ceiling into our office space.

The building has a disaster recovery team on site today, but our office is most likely uninhabitable through Friday due to the damage, a dangerous ceiling, smell, and dryer/dehumidifier cables.

Our IT/phone system equipment closet was thoroughly soaked. Our staff is receiving emails, but our voicemail system-wide, in all locations, is down for an unknown period. If you need to reach a staff member who works in the Detroit office, email is probably the best contact method. (click here for out staff directory)
Please note that the Detroit Council Shop on first floor is open and will be making paper transactions. The Cookie Cupboard will reopen on Thursday, February 19th.

We will be sure to update you here, on our Facebook page, and through email, as we know more about this developing situation.

Yours in Scouting,
Denise Dalrymple
