SOURCE OF IGNITION AT THE WEDGWOOD SENIOR LIVING COMPLEX IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS STILL UNDETERMINED.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (AP) —
Authorities say it's still unclear what caused a fire at a senior-living
facility near San Antonio that killed five people, injured several others and
displaced about 250 residents.
Investigators found more than one potential source of the
Dec. 28 blaze at Wedgwood Senior Living Apartments in Castle Hills, the San
Antonio News-Express (http://bit.ly/18Tc5Qo ) reported Thursday.
Spokeswoman Laura Jesse of the Bexar County fire marshal's
office said the incident report is still being finalized and wasn't ready for
release Thursday. Once the report is done, the list of potential ignition
sources will be released, she said.
A sixth resident died two days after the fire at the
11-story complex, but officials haven't said if it contributed to her death.
Apartment managers have said the building won't be habitable for now, but note
most residents have already found new homes.
Since the fire, more than 20 residents have jointly filed a
negligence lawsuit against the management company and its owners, seeking at
least $1 million in damages for medical care expenses and compensation. They
say the fire was a direct result of deficiencies in maintenance, policies,
procedures and/or the condition of the apartment complex.
Messages left with a Wedgwood management spokeswoman by the
newspaper weren't returned Thursday.
