BOULDER COUNTY, COLORADO:
At least three people were transported to area hospitals
on Monday morning following a traffic accident involving a semi truck and four
cars on Colo. 52 in eastern Boulder County. No one was killed in the scary-looking
crash, officials say.
The accident was first reported at 8:13 a.m. on Colo. 52
near U.S. 287, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid. The wreck
and resulting investigation shut down Colo. 52 between U.S. 287 and 95th Street
for more than five hours, with the roadway fully reopening at 1:33 p.m., Reid
said.
One vehicle -- a Honda -- was trapped beneath the semi,
while two other vehicles needed to be towed from the scene, according to police
radio traffic.
Officials on scene said there were no fatalities. Reid
said the driver of the Honda was transported to Longmont United Hospital with
possibly serious injuries while two other people from a different car were
taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette with minor injuries.
Updates on the conditions of those involved were not
available Monday night. Reid said the investigation into the accident,
including what may have caused it may take several days.
