A woman suffered non-life threatening injuries after she was in one of two cars involved in a head-on collision at 57th and Louise Wednesday night.

A call for an injury accident came in before 7 p.m., reporting one person still stuck in a vehicle. One woman suffered injuries to her right arm and leg and lost quite a bit of blood.

Police said her injuries were “more than a bumped head, but nothing too serious.” Extrication was not needed and emergency responders were able to carry the victim out of the vehicle.

Kayla Koterwski was on her way home from work driving through the busy 57th and Louise intersection when she saw smoke and debris. She was two cars behind the scene of the accident. She said she and about five other people from every direction of the intersection jumped out of their cars to try and help.

“At first I was thinking, what can I do to help? We quickly realized one of the people was injured and screaming,” she said.

Koterwski said she saw an ambulance on scene within five minutes from when she called 911.

Crews were still on the scene of 57th and Louise as of 8:15 p.m.
