A woman fell 400 feet from an observation point on the north side of the Royal Gorge and died, the Canon City Police Department said.
Officers were called to the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park just after 8 p.m. Monday on a report of a missing 44-year-old woman.
Dangerous conditions forced suspension of the search until Tuesday morning, when the Fremont County Search and Rescue Team responded and found the woman’s body about 400 feet below the observation point on the cliff face.
“At this time, the fall appears to be accidental with no foul play suspected,” the Canon City Police Department said.
The woman’s name and hometown have not been released.
