MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -
As storms rolled through the Mid-South, many people lost power and roads flooded. The dangerous driving conditions caused one woman's SUV to flip upside down.
"As I was turning around, coming from the store, he had already hit her and the van was flipping over at that time," said witness Veronica Wilder.
A children's car seat, a stroller, and two seats from the SUV lined Poplar Avenue after the crash.
When the van flipped in the middle of the road near the intersection of Poplar and Danny Thomas Boulevard, the grandmother driving was trapped inside the vehicle.
"They took her out in no time," Wilder added. "When they got her out, she had a lot of scratches and bruises on her."
According to the woman's granddaughter, she had just dropped off her grandkids because she was worried about driving in the stormy weather.
"If they had've been with them, there would have been five kids in the car with her," said Wilder.
That decision may have saved a life.
