1 injured after an Aero Commander 100 Darter plane flips over at Stinson Airport in Texas

STINSON AIRPORT ACCIDENT PIC

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

One person was hurt when a small plane flipped over on Wednesday night.

The incident happened at Stinson Airport on the city's South Side at about 9p.m.

Authorities say the pilot was outside the plane trying to start the propeller when the plane began to get away from him.  A passenger was inside the plane.

According to an airport spokesperson, the pilot tried to jump into the moving plane, but was dragged. The plane - described as a 1965 Aero Commander Darter - did get off the ground at one point, but then crashed into a construction area and flipped onto its roof.

The pilot who was dragged refused medical treatment. The passenger was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center and was expected to be okay.

The Federal Aviation Administration is now investigating the incident.
