Troopers say a Jacksonville man was driving drunk when he struck and killed a highway worker this morning.
Marvin Jackson, 30, is charged with DWI, felony death by motor vehicle, failure to maintain lane control, driving while license revoked, felony hit and run and two counts of felony serious injury by vehicle.
The employee of Onslow Grading and Paving, Jesus Morales of Jacksonville, was killed while he and two others were setting up signs and cones for a paving project on Rocky Run Road.
Bryan McCloud, 28 of Beulaville, and Louis Champeau, 46, of Hubert, were taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Troopers say McCloud is in critical condition, while Champeau was listed in stable condition.
The Highway Patrol says witnesses chased down the van after it left the accident and stayed on the phone with 911 until deputies arrived and took Jackson into custody.

The Highway Patrol confirmed that one worker died.
