Officials are investigating after one person died when the truck he was driving collided with a train Sunday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Officers were called to the accident around noon Sunday near U.S. 84 and North County Road 1600.
DPS troopers responded to the accident and said a man was driving a pickup truck when he left a private residence and pulled into the path of an oncoming train.
The train struck the pickup truck and ejected the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The private residence near the accident scene is located in close proximity to the railroad tracks.
Although there is a railroad crossing marker attached to a stop sign between the private residence and train tracks, it appears as if there are no railroad crossing arms stopping vehicles from driving on the tracks when a train is passing.
The mangled truck was towed from the scene of the accident around 4 p.m. Sunday.
DPS was still investigating and was in the process of notifying the next of kin Sunday afternoon.
More information is expected to be released Monday.
