WORKER SUES HALLIBURTON OVER WORKPLACE ACCIDENT WHEN HE FELL IN A HOLE AND INJURED HIS BACK

APRIL 6, 2015

A Mississippi couple is suing Halliburton claiming injuries in a workplace accident.

Eric Jones and Darlene Jones filed suit against Halliburton Energy Services in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana on Feb. 16.

According to court documents, Eric Jones was employed by MISWACO, a provider of industrial personnel.  Jones was assigned to a site in or near Port Fouchon, La., that is owned by the defendant.  While at work on Aug. 15, 2014, he fell into a hole located on the property and incurred back injuries.

The complaint states that Halliburton is exclusively responsible for the incident. The plaintiffs claim that Halliburton failed to maintain a safe work environment, warn Jones of hazards, or correct dangerous conditions by initiating repairs to the property.

Citing physical pain and suffering; emotional distress; loss of wages, benefits and earning capacity; medical expenses; and loss of consortium for Darlene, the plaintiffs seek compensatory, special and general damages plus attorney’s fees, expenses and costs.

The couple is represented by Timothy Young, Tammy Harris, Megan Misko and Daniel Poolson, of the Young Firm of New Orleans.
