SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA (AP)
A Fairfax County fire official says a 110-foot tree fell
onto a home in northern Virginia.
Deputy Chief Reginald Johnson said Sunday that the massive
tree fell on the home in Springfield on Saturday evening, displacing two
residents. WRC-TV reported that the residents were inside the basement at the
time the tree fell, though Johnson was unable to confirm that.
Johnson says no one was hurt or trapped after the tree fell
amid strong winds and soil that was wet from rain the previous day.
Johnson says the home sustained significant damage and that
a county building inspector condemned it, forcing the residents out.
