MARCH 17, 2015

ELKHART, INDIANA

The Elkhart Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to a house fire on Monday afternoon.

The fire occurred in the 200 block of St. Joseph St. at around 1 p.m.

When they arrived, firefighters discovered what they believed to be materials used to make meth in the basement of the home.

During the subsequent investigation detectives gathered evidence indicating the fire was caused by an exploding meth lab.

Jason Jones, 35, of Elkhart, suffered burns and was transported by Med Flight to a Fort Wayne burn center for treatment. At this time his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

On Tuesday, March 17, 2015, as a result of their investigation, detectives arrested Harold Brigman, 34, of Elkhart, and Toni Brigman, 40, of Elkhart, for maintaining a common nuisance.

They are both being held at the Elkhart County Jail without bond.
