A tragedy on the train tracks has led to traffic trouble
after, authorities said, a man was fatally struck by a freight train Thursday
afternoon.
Investigators said the accident took place on the tracks
just east of South Dixie Highway and Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach. The
pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.
The man's body remains under the train, which is affecting
traffic. Officers have blocked off the intersections on Northeast Sixth Street,
Atlantic Boulevard, Southwest Second Street, and Southwest Seventh Street.
This was probably another suicide by train. The other possibilities are that he may have
been drunk or on drugs. In any event, he
will not do that again.
