OAK HILL, VOLUSIA COUNTY,FLORIDA
I-95 has reopened in south Volusia County about six hours
after a truck overturned Thursday morning, spilling sheet rock and oil onto the
road near the Brevard County line.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver,
40-year-old Michael Borres of Longwood, lost control of the big rig, causing it
to overturn around 9 a.m. near mile marker 235 on the southbound side of the
interstate, south of Oak Hill in Volusia County and approaching Scottsmoor in Brevard
County.
All southbound lanes were shut down, and traffic was forced
off I-95 at Exit 239, in New Smyrna Beach, and redirected onto State Road 44
east to U.S. Highway 1.
The truck's load, as well as a significant amount of oil,
spilled onto the road. It took crews about six hours to clean up the mess, and
all lanes were reopened around 3 p.m.
Borres was taken to Halifax Medical Center with minor
injuries. Troopers said the crash remained under investigation.
