A Laurel, MS man was killed Sunday when the tanker truck
he was driving overturned.
Mark Gardener, 54, was driving north on highway 15 when the truck hauling crude oil left the roadway and struck a tree. According to police, the impact of the crash caused the truck to catch fire.
Gardener was pronounced dead at the scene.
Residents were evacuated due to the possibility of the tanker exploding, but have since returned to their homes.
