HIGHWAYS ARE THE WAR ZONES INSIDE OUR HOMELAND: ANOTHER 3 DEAD, 6 INJURED IN TWO SEPARATE CRASHES IN TEXAS

3 DEAD,  6 INJURED IN TWO SEPARATE CRASHES IN TEXAS

There is no question that the roads and highways are the equivalent of war zones inside our homeland.  Just in Texas alone there were 232,041 persons who were injured in motor vehicle crashes in 2013 (Source: Texas Peace Officer's Crash Reports).  3,377 people died in traffic accidents or about 1.3 persons per 10,000 people in Texas.  This Texas death rate is at least 30 percent higher than the national average death rate.

PICKUP TRUCK DRIVER LOSES CONTROL AFTER AN ALLEGED WHEEL PROBLEM; ONE TEENAGER PASSENGER IS KILLED, 3 INJURED WHEN THE TRUCK ROLLS OVER MULTIPLE TIMES

February 9, 2015

VALLEY MILLS, TEXAS:

A 15-year-old boy from Clifton died early Sunday morning when the driver of a pick-up truck in which he was riding lost control and the truck overturned several times.

Jacob Mata, 15, of Clifton, was pronounced dead at the scene on State Highway 6 near Chapman Road, just south of Valley Mills, inside the McLennan County line, Department of Public Safety trooper D.L. Wilson said.

Three other teenagers who were in the Dodge pick-up truck, one girl and two boys, were taken by ambulance to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, in Waco, for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, Wilson said.

Wilson said at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday the pick-up truck was southbound on Hwy. 6 when a problem developed with the left front wheel.

The issue caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which flipped over several times before coming to rest in the roadside right-of-way.

Funeral arrangements for Mata still were pending Sunday afternoon.
