A
sheriff’s deputy and another person were hospitalized after a traffic
collision involving a patrol car in Diamond Bar on Tuesday afternoon,
authorities said.
The
Los Angeles County Fire Department was called to the crash just before 12:30
p.m. at South Diamond Bar Boulevard and Grand Avenue, fire Inspector Rick
Flores said.
Aerial
video showed a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s patrol car with its
front end smashed, and a white Lexus sedan that appeared to have been
side-swiped. The intersection was shut down and scattered with debris. Multiple
patrol cars were on scene by 1 p.m.

A
deputy and another person were transported by ground ambulance just to get
checked out, said Lt. John Saleeby of the sheriff’s Walnut Station.
The
deputy was responding to a rescue call when the collision occurred, Saleeby
said. It was not known if the patrol car’s lights and siren were on at the time
of the crash.
The
call originally came in as a traffic collision with two people
trapped, Flores said.
