5 DISPLACED, 1 FIREFIGHTER INJURED IN OVERNIGHT FIRE IN VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA. THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE WAS THE GARAGE; THE CAUSE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED.

BEACH, Va. (WAVY) —
Virginia Beach emergency communications received a
call for a working house fire in the 3100 block of Crestwood Lane at 2:46 a.m.
Tuesday.
When
firefighters arrived on scene, flames were visible from the home.
Twenty-three
firefighters were needed to fight the fire. One firefighter was transported to
the hospital after receiving a minor injury while fighting the fire.
All
of the occupants of the home, four adults and one child, made it out safely,
but have been displaced by the fire. One adult male was treated for smoke
inhalation. All family members are being assisted by the Red Cross.
The
home, in the Landstown section of the city, received moderate damage, but is
not a total loss. No other homes were threatened during the fire.
The
preliminary investigation reveals the fire started in the garage portion of the
home and spread. The inside of the home sustained heavy smoke
damage.
Investigators remain on scene working to determine the exact cause
of the fire.
