One person was injured and 15 others were displaced when a
fast-moving fire damaged three homes in a Passaic County community on the 400
block of Roe Street.
It’s not yet known what sparked the fire on Roe Street in
Haledon, which broke out early Sunday, or in which residence the fire began.
But authorities say borough police helped residents escape
the burning homes.
Firefighters were still on the scene at 8 a.m. trying to put
out any possible hot spots, CBS2 reported.
The injury was minor and treated at the scene, Mayor
Domenick Stampone said.
429 Roe St. is slated for demolition and construction
officials are evaluating neighboring buildings.
The Paterson, Wayne, Prospect Park, Wyckoff and Bloomingdale
fire departments provided mutual aid.
Authorities say the displaced residents were staying with
family and friends, and it wasn’t known if or when they would be able to return
to their homes.
