SALT TRUCK OVERTURNS IN CRASH WITH TRACTOR-TRAILER ALONG I-295 IN NEW JERSEY
Thursday, Jan 22, 2015
A salt truck overturned
during a three-vehicle wreck with a big rig along a South Jersey highway Thursday
morning.
The wreck left the salt
truck flipped over along the side Interstate 295 southbound near Exit 18 (Route
678) in East Greenwich Township, New Jersey around 5:25 a.m., said New Jersey
State Police.
The driver of the NJDOT
salt truck was taken to Cooper University Hospital with undisclosed injuries,
said police.
The crash, which left a
tractor-trailer jackknifed, blocked the right and center lanes leaving only one
lane getting by the scene.
It wasn't clear if icy
conditions played a role in the wreck.
A large amount of
emergency personnel responded to the scene as they searched for a cause. They
also cleared salt that spilled onto the roadway during the wreck.
