Coast Guard recovers a husband and wife unresponsive near Depoe Bay

DEPOE BAY, Ore. —
A Coast Guard aircrew recovered two unresponsive individuals from the waters outside Rocky Creek State Park, near Depoe Bay, Ore., Sunday afternoon.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station North Bend spotted and hoisted a Chinese husband and wife from the water and transported them to Emergency Medical Service Technicians awaiting on scene.
Coast Guard Sector North Bend Command Center watchstanders received a request for assistance, for two people who had reportedly been swept out to sea by a rogue wave while foraging for mussels, from 911 dispatch at 5:31 p.m.
Coast Guard Station Depoe Bay launched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat and Air Station North Bend launched a helicopter which arrived on scene at 5:57 p.m.

The husband and wife recently moved to the area and the Oregon State Police department is working to notify the next of kin.
